Good news!

I am having a review of the French Horror film Martyrs published in Film Matters magazine! My first published review! Wham Bam Thankyou Maam.
The review will be in issue 1.4 coming out in December. Very excited!

While vacationing in LA Hollywood, my friend managed to score tickets to an advanced screening of Scott Pilgrim VS The World as a tester audience.

Second review for http://www.subtitledonline.com/ is notoriously gruesome french horror, Frontiers.

I LOVE my horrors, and with the japanese renewal of the horror genre at the beginning of this decade, and then the subsequent spanish horror awakening, I find that the third cycle of genuinely thrilling horrors is the output from France.

My current favourites being Frontiers/Martyrs/Switchblade Romance with the recent Inside being the next French horror I need to get my grubby hands upon.

(I will get around to putting up the original versions of the reviews for Mononoke and Frontiers at some point. In the editing process of the reviews a lot of the side comments and jokes had to be removed so the reviews would apply to the more professional nature of subtitledonline. Further nazi and nick griffin jokes had to be removed. sigh.)

I am now writing for a new website (as well as still contributing for theplayground.co.uk), and this one is helmed by the very friendly Darren Howells. The website is solely focused on the world of foreign language cinema which makes for a nice change and really helps in showing just how much fresh material there is out there when you look further than just Hollywood for an engaging film.

My first review has been Princess Mononoke...a HUGE favourite of mine that I have loved since I was a young teenager in high school. Absolute classic, I only wish I had seen it when I was a child.
